Marketing mayhem, how do I get started with Marketing!
Marketing… Is one of the most important parts of a business and one of the most costly.
However if done right it is the difference between success and failure, or you working 100 hours a week because you can’t afford to employ others!
You are Selling/marketing all the time, whether you believe me or not!
Answering the phone, handing a business card out, making a sale, contacting a customer whether by email, phone or letter.
Every Interaction with a customer is marketing and marketing has been called a salesmen in print. So whatever you do you are creating a positive or negative impression of yourself and ofcourse your business.
I would like to give you my view and thoughts on sales and marketing.
As I See It marketing is Customer Service, because the more you connect with people the better your chances are of getting a new client and I call marketing customer service, because if you don’t serve or attend to your clients your competition will.
So serve your customers properly and your business will eventually beable to give you freedom!
Getting back to Customer Service or should I say Marketing.
Marketing should most definately be defined as a Customer Service Campaign. This will instantly change the way you look at it.
Customer Service Campaign…
This means , yes you guessed it. You need to treat and gather long lasting friendships that you can support with your products or service. Just like a politician campaigns and shakes hands and is constantly out there ready to be shot done by his competition if he slips up.
I want you to write down now “how can I best serve my customers by starting a campaign ” now on another sheet write” what am I doing that pisses my customers off and what can I do to change it right now”
HYPNOSIS part or 3rd person perspective(or just ask a mate for an Honest No BS opinion about your business, from the front door to the back door. give him slack and keep saying is that it and take notes then ask him how you could dramatically improve things. remember he is only one person you should do this by paying customers to tell you)
Close your eyes after you have read the following.
Imagine your best customer every detail eyes clothes posture, how they talk and breath. now imagine stepping into their body and seeing your business as they do.
what do they see, feel and say to them selves. are they telling themselves “why am I here again” or “my god has he not cleaned the floor again” or are they looking around in distaste and feeling ill having to deal with you again.
write everything they see down and then set about dealing with these problems!
When I start dealing with a new business that operates a service or product that is bought over and over again. I implement a customer feedback inititive and open communication channels eg facebook twitter or emailing.
This can be very good cost effective strategies for informing customers of events, offers and changes to your product or service and is also an excellent stealth tool that goes blow your competitions radar. So you can test lots of things before your competition knows what has hit them!
